The Library

At Thorntree we have a well-stocked Library with distinct areas for book storage and borrowing, for children’s learning and for teacher administration and research.

We have over 4,200 books in our Library, both fiction and non-fiction, so the children have plenty to choose from! The Library is fully computerised and the children are taught to use the Library as they would a public library.

In Year 1, children borrow one book per fortnight. While they are learning how to use the Library and take responsibility for the books that they borrow, they keep their chosen books in a special box in their classroom. In subsequent years, children take their books home. In Year 2, the children can borrow one book per fortnight. In Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 the children can borrow two books per fortnight.
