  • Monday 4 March 2024 History Week History Week 2024 got off to a flying start with a visit from Hobgoblin Theatre Company and their whistle stop tour of the History of Britain from 10,000 years ago to the present day in 60 minutes! The whole school enjoyed learning about kings and queens, significant events and people who have helped shape the history of Britain, in a very entertaining way. They particularly liked seeing periods of history that they have previously studied in school brought to life, for example the Tudors or the Great Fire of London.
  • Monday 4 December 2023 Snow White Theatre performance Dec 2023 Today we had a theatre performance for the whole school, Snow White. The performance was full of songs, vibrant costumes, funny lines and clever props and scenery. There was something for every age group too. You can find photos of the performance below.

  • Monday 2 October 2023 Jeans for Genes fundraiser On Friday 15th September we fundraised for the Jeans for Genes children's charity. Pupils and staff came to school wearing denim and raised a lovely £150.17 for this amazing charity that supports children with cystic fibrosis.
  • Tuesday 18 July 2023 Free meals for kids during school holidays The council is ensuring that regular meals are available for all children and young people within the borough during school holidays. Food is served at multiple locations across the borough, and there's no age limit for children, meaning that nutritious meals are readily available and families continue to receive support outside of school term time.

  • Monday 5 December 2022 The Christmas Fair The Friends of Thorntree Association held their annual Christmas Fair on Friday 2nd December. It was brilliant. All classes were given a small amount of money to make things to sell. They made hot chocolate kits, lavender bags, xmas decorations, cakes and much more. Ans their stalls sold out. Santa installed himself in his sparkly grotto in the Library and there were games galore in the lower playground. There were toys and books to buy, refreshments and a grand raffle. And the fair raised an amazing £1,246 which will be spent, via the parent's association, on our children.
  • Monday 5 December 2022 A Christmas Carol On Monday 5th December the whole school had a lovely Christmas treat thanks to a contribution of funding from the Parent’s Association. M & M Theatrical Productions came into school and performed A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The set was very imaginative, the acting was brilliant, the singing and music choices were great, and the jokes… well… they were aimed at the children! The children were enthralled by the whole production. They watched, they laughed, they sang along. Here are some pictures of the event.

  • Tuesday 27 September 2022 Food Bank help In order to provide the most appropriate help for the circumstances of your situation Food Banks work with local agencies. If they feel you are struggling to put food on the table, they will issue you with a foodbank voucher. The local agency can also provide long term support if needed to help address some of the issues behind the reasons for your crisis. Agencies they work with include: Citizens Advice, housing support officers, children’s centres, health visitors, social services and some local charities.

  • Tuesday 13 September 2022 Queen Elizabeth Funeral - school closed on Monday 19th September Please note that the school will be closed on Monday 19th September 2022, the day of our late Queen Elizabeth's funeral. This is so that you can mark this special day by watching the funeral with your family. The school will re-open on Tuesday 20th September 2022.

  • Thursday 16 June 2022 May Day 2022 We were all thrilled to be able to do our traditional May Day celebrations again this year. So, on Thursday 16th June, we decorated the school, the stage and the playground with flowers donated by parents and local shops. The children had practised their dances. The playground filled up and at 2 o'clock the whole school took up their positions.
  • Friday 10 June 2022 Platinum Jubilee Celebrations On Friday 10th June the whole school celebrated the Queen'sPlatinum Jubilee. Children dressed in clothes from the past 70 decades. They played old-fashioned games, had a disco with "old" music, made crowns and an afternoon tea party. Here are a few photos.
