History Week
History Week 2024 got off to a flying start with a visit from Hobgoblin Theatre Company and their whistle stop tour of the History of Britain from 10,000 years ago to the present day in 60 minutes! The whole school enjoyed learning about kings and queens, significant events and people who have helped shape the history of Britain, in a very entertaining way. They particularly liked seeing periods of history that they have previously studied in school brought to life, for example the Tudors or the Great Fire of London.
Years 2 to 6 learnt about the history in our local area by visiting the 400 year old Charlton House. A costumed historian gave each class a tour of the building while teaching them how to become a historian by using a variety of sources of evidence including primary and secondary sources.

Finally, the children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite historical character and telling their friends and classmates all about why they were such an important historical figure.
Overall, the children had a great week learning about historical people and events and how to be a historian.
